Random Facts From Jodi:
1. I have 4 beautiful children. It may not be random, but it’s definitely interesting raising strong, stubborn little leaders in a household with a Mental Health Counselor/Political Non-profit director as a mother and an immigration attorney as a father!
2. I am the Executive Director of a Faith-based non-profit organization that advocates for biblical values in state policy. The role I currently have fighting for biblical values in politics/policy is one I never dreamed I’d be in. In fact, anytime politics was mentioned before, I would run the other way. It’s funny how God molds us and works in our lives to bring us where he wants us to be.
3. I make cakes! Call it a hobby, but I love making cakes for birthdays, weddings, you name it! I’ve even delved into the science of baking to understand how to build the perfect recipe. Its simply satisfying to see a cake turn out just the way you hoped and when it doesn’t, well, its simply satisfying to eat the mistake!
4. I am the director of “Thrive,” the Women’s Ministry at my church, and our Thrive Nights are some of my favorites! The community that our women have built is priceless. From crying together all the way to laughing so hard our drink comes out of our noses, this group of gals knows how to do community.
5. After being terrified of motorcycles most of my life, I got a motorcycle for Mother’s Day. I finally decided I was done being fearful and I was ready to try something new; and boy do I LOVE it!
Why do women need to be engaged in community? Simple, because they need to be reminded that they are not alone. There is something so deeply nourishing to a woman's heart that comes from spending time with other women. Engaging in community takes a girl out of the lonely perspective of not measuring up and into the bountiful environment of encouragement, support, and accountability.
Why should women engage in worship? Quite frankly, we need to be reminded of whose we are and what better way to do that than to humbly bow ourselves before the King of Kings. When we worship the King of Kings, we realize that though we are nothing in and of ourselves, we are everything in the eyes of the King. Knowing every ugly detail about us, he still chose to go to pull us out of the pit and place a crown on our heads. Engaging in worship isn't a chore, it is a heart healing opportunity to reflect on the one who made us royalty and cast our crowns back at his feet in praise.
Why should women engage in the study of God's word? Because as #crowned daughters of the King, we must accurately handle his words, beautifully reflect his character, and humbly live out his principles. We can only do that if we are steeped in his word. I'm not talking about light hearted devotionals that sound good but never break the surface. I'm talking about building ownership in God's word with roots that run so deep and are saturated so completely that you live, breath, and move confidently in the calling God has placed on your life.
Jodi's heart is to help you engage in community, worship, and the study of God's word. Whether through her bible study material or coming to your women's ministry event, it will be a meaningful and worshipful pursuit of God.
Jodi's goal is to inspire women to confidence in who the Creator has made them to be. We live in a world that constantly challenges women to live up to unrealistic expectations; expectations that have nothing to do with what God created us for and everything to do with tearing us down at the core of our identity. Women are beautiful just as they are, they are creations of a masterful Creator who makes no mistakes. It’s time women start unveiling the filters, expose the lies that have broken their hearts, and unleash who they were created to be. Our worth has already been determined by God, it’s time we start living in it.
